NOTE: MORBID MAPS ARE FOUR (4) TIMES LARGER THAN NORMAL HLDM MAPS (using scaled down models and micro mapping)

Morbid Inclination is a multiplayer only Modification that pits four teams (Humans, Monsters, Aliens and Robots) each with their own special abilities, against each other in a scenario similar to Capture The Flag. The name of this game mode is Scavenger.

Scavenger:

The main difference between Scavenger and normal CTF games, aside from the four teams instead of two, is that in Scavenger there is a "Flag" or as we call it, Item, for every player. Each team's goal is to ultimately capture every item in the level and take them to their Vault, which is the capture room inside their base.

When the game starts, all of the items spawn into a central area of the map called the Stock Pile. As mentioned above, players must capture the items in the Stockpile in order to win the round. Each player can only capture one item at a time so multiple visits to the Stockpile are required to win the round.

Once the Stockpile is empty, teams must invade the enemy bases, steal the items inside the enemy Vault and return them to their own Vault to be captured. If a player dies inside an enemy base they respawn inside a Jail cell which is also centrally located in the map, close to the Stock pile.

The Jail does not have any doors or other openings in which players can get inside or outside the jail. Players simply spawn inside the jail when captured and spawn outside the jail when released.

Each Jail cell has two release switches, one inside the jail that can be used by the captured players to escape, and one outside the jail that uncaptured team members can use to release their team mates. The switch inside the jail has to be used for at least 15 seconds before the players will be released, whereas the outside switch will release players after only 5 seconds, and the player who releases their team members will be awarded 2 points for rescuing their team mates.

When players are inside jail, they are stripped of all their weapons and must return to their own base before their weapons will return. The reason for this is to prevent players from leaving the jail and going striaght to the Stockpile to capture an item as you can not capture an item without your weapons.

Definitions:

The Stockpile is a centrally located area in each level where the Items are initially found for capturing. The number of Items may vary between levels.

The Vault is similar to the flag room in Capture The Flag games. This is an area inside each team's base which players are required to visit in order to drop/capture any Items they might be carrying. You will not be able to drop an Item unless you are killed or enter your team's Vault.

An Item is a model specified by the level designer that every team is fighting to gain full control of. There is a minimum of 4 and maximum of 16 items per level. The number of items is determined by the number of players allowed in the level. There is one item for each player.

Rounds:

Round times of Scavenger will default at 10 minutes with 4 rounds per level. This gives each team a chance at winning.
The first team to collect every Item in the level before the round ends is declared the round winner. If no team has collected all of the Items at the end of the round, the team with the most Items wins.
After all rounds have been played out, the team with the most wins is declared the "Round Champions" and a new level will load.
In the event of a tie, the game will continue as normal, loading a new level.

Reward System: To be included in release 2

Eventually Morbid Inclination will have a reward system that will allow players to equip themselves with different and more powerful weapons, equipment, ammo and special abilities such as augmentations and powerups.
Players will start each match with a limited ammount of equipment slots. Each weapon, augmentation, powerup, ammo clip and piece of equipment will use a specified number of equipment slots. Throughout the game, players will have the opportunity to earn points which will gain them new equipment slots. At the start of a new round, those players who have earned the required ammount of points will be presented with an upgrade screen where they will be able to select from an array of different items to use in the following round. The ammount of points required before upgrade is map dependant meaning it changes with each map.

Points:

Points are rewarded as follows:

Capture an Item: 5 points
Release the players in jail: 2 points
Kill an opposing player (enemy): 1 point & 1 Frag
Kill a team member (FF on): -5 points
Kill yourself (suicide): -1 point & -1 Frag

The Morbid Inclination team is looking for some help in the mapping department to work on some new levels for the new game mode that will be included in R2.

If you have experience with HL mapping and would like the opportunity to have a level included officially in a MOD, now is your chance! (The team is also working on a retail project and dedicated members may get a chance to work on their retail title)

We could also use some help in the character animation department. If you have experience with 3D Studio Max and HL animations we could really use your help (on both projects)

The mod itself have human vs monster vs alien vs robot theme is promising, which each race have different pros and cons, however this need tons of improvement to make sure it not become a flop, most of them are focus in diversity between each race.
First at all, model of human assault rifle are suck, when u shootting it bullet jacket come from under hand, despite the fact a they should come from gun chamber, robot model is too ugly, it look fragile, robo grunt seem better.
Second, the respawn system is too simple, the should have respawn time and wave that different between each faction, example monster are spawn faster but they are weaker. map design should have diversive between each faction, example robot base have robot theme while monster base have monster theme texture. same which other team-specific-thing suck as teleport gate, etc... Each faction game hub, death and pain sounds need to be different. Each faction need at least 3 classes to make the game better, bots fuction also needed. Blood texture and meat of monster and human should have at least different colors between each other.
Third, should the option of third and first person, monster hand v_ model are needed, spectator mode too.

Damn, it has been 1 year since this comment published. I don't know if this guy will read my reply or not, but I will write it anyway

This MOD is awesome, but I doubt if the developer of this MOD will continue to update it. In fact, Half Life MOD with 4 teams fight each other like this game is very rare. Unlike "The Specialist" though, this MOD doesn't have any BOTS to play with. So, yeah, I guess this MOD is dead forever, following another good Half Life MOD that already dead before.

Only if someday there is someone who wants to create server for this game, it would be a "good revival" :(
