Here is a rundown of what this mod is all about:
The biggest point to the mod is the new abilities that it will offer. There are 5 abilities that will be used: Agility, Mental Strength, Physical Endurance, Physical Strength, and Speed. Each ability grants special powers at each of the 11 levels of evolution. Using these abilities is a key to winning the matches.
Physical Strength allows you to do more damage in the match, eventually allowing special powers such as ranged energy attacks, upgrading weapon damage, and so on.

Endurance allows you to take more damage, eventually leading to creation of body force fields, regeneration, and a full, impenitrable force field around you and your teammates.

Speed is great for those who want to get around fast, and perform almost any action faster, like reloading.

Agility helps steady your aim, increase your jumping capacity, and eventually giving the power of flight.

Mental Strength determines the level on which you can control all your other abilities. The higher your mental strength, the longer some abilities might last. It also is involved in the recovery of your Mental Capacity, the energy meter that is used up whenever most special abilities are performed.

You can choose to balance your characters, be the jack of all trades, and be only moderately powerful in all abilities... or you can turn up one category all the way, and specialize your character as a damage dealer, a runner, a shield, a sniper, or whatever the situation demands. Oh, and did I mention that you could change the power levels of any of these abilities at any time during the match? Just find a safe spot, evolve your abilities, and it's as if you are playing a whole different character, without even stopping the match.

This is the dream for the Evolution mod, to put the character abilities in the player's hands, so they can play however they like in the world that Evolution takes place in.

Reboot

I am currently looking into rebooting this mod idea. The designs are, more or less, staying the same. The general concept is remaining along with the abilities list and the weapons list. I've played through this mod in my mind over and over and I cannot think of a single technilogical stumbling point that would prevent the type of gameplay I am envisioning... plus it just seems like it will be way fun when finished. I may, however, decide to swap over to a more powerful engine (CryTek comes to mind), but that has yet to be thought deeply on. I'll consult with CubeDude about this, but if you have any comments either way, please let me know.

Whatever the outcome, I have come to realize that the original vision was too huge and will be scaled down, mainly in the initial offering of game modes. I have been keeping an eye out, and so far this idea seems unique, still, which I am happy about. In the next few months, I will be putting together map layouts for the multiple maps we have planned. I also hope to reboot the website (we had some issues with spam as well as hackers, so the entire site was taken down due to lack of time to fix the security holes).

For now, I will base my updates out of moddb. I don't expect frequent updates in the start of this reboot, but it may get more frequent as time goes on. In the meantime, if people want to help out with the project, that would be much appreciated. For team needs (this is an absolute minimum): Programmer, concept artist, modeler (object -and- character), as well as a level designer. The more help the more we can split efforts throughout the team. I understand that this is a very broad ask for help, but I'm not expecting much right now. I'll post specifics more when the time is right and I am ready to present something more polished.
