Star Wars Empire is a total conversion for Valves Half Life 2 source engine. It will be a MMOFPSRPG (Massivly Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter Role Playing Game).
Unlike the traditional Star Wars games, Star Wars Empire will allow you to take any specific role you wish to play and live it out in a real time environment with other players. Most of the people you have seen in the Star wars saga or read in the books, Bounty Hunters, Commandos, Jedi, Smugglers and more will be pursuable through an extensively and never-before seen level aquistion chart.
Also Star Wars Empire is bent on bringing unfound continuity unlike you have seen before. Our original timeline (right after battle of Yavin), has been changed to a time period between ESB and ROTJ to allow for greater technological useage and more leway towards the Galatic Civil War and what is going on durring it.
Star Wars Empire also brings you a new type of IFF system. Since SWE will be twitch gameplay (FPS) as well as role playing, we have invented a new type of IFF system which will allow for massive PVP battles but also nearly destroying grief problems that plauge many MMO's in most respects.
The SWE staff is proud to be working on such an extensive and radicaly genre changing mod. We hope to bring you the best in the Star Wars universe and allow all lovers of Lucas's world changing story arc to participate in the Star Wars world.

While the week has past, SWE has taken off in terms of modding.
Noticable changes in our alpha have been to the weapons & weapon systems. So far the mod has two out of a currently set 5 weapons implimented, shown below...

They both have a basic test texture, due to the fact my unwrapped texture is not exporting into HL2 properly.
Also, there has been an addition to the SWE modding team, Fini, our new mapper has joined up and is implimenting ideas left and right :) So welcome Fini!
Aswell, we are going to bring out more information on our "phase" releases. Which allows "you" the players to play with the basic systems we push out. We hope this brings to light any bugs and exploits in the new systems we develope. More information on when our first phase release will be posted soon!
Sun is shining on the mod and it's starting to come together at a rapid pace. In the next SWE update I will be posting the new UI & HUD that has been in development.

I've added what the Alpha Version UI looks like, just show there is more progress then what has been shown going underway.

Just so no one gets confused, yes this is the same mod, just a different name. Becuase of legal reasons with LucasArts "Star Wars" may not be apart of any star wars related mod title.
I hope everyone likes the new name, Galactic Combat!
