This is a user powered mod, a real live community of builders and coders. The landscape changes with the progress of the builders and the objects grow with the work of coders. We all share knowledge and work together to build a city. Gangs will form and politics will shape the laws. Property will be bought and sold, rented and leased.
Smallfort County will provide a virtual reality as close to real life as source possible. Your health is degraded through time as you get "hungry" while finding food becomes a chore much like real life. Clients can setup shop as a resturaunt, gun shop, applience retailer, or many other ways to earn a dollar. Hire employees to serve food for a profit in this laid back vurtual county.
Coders can "invent" objects to sell for ingame money. A county court and police system protects you from crime as best it can. Save money over time and buy a car to drive the cityscape. Being away from your keyboard for a long time results in your character "passing out", death is possible and costly.
HL2 mappers are able to build thier own buildings for inclusion in the county map (some resrictions apply). If you map for hl2, you can build a hotel or condos and rent them out for ingame money, or build the house of your dreams and host parties.
This is a map update for alpha1 for builders. Various bugs fixed, Ace's Gun Shop added. Extra map included: minitown built by katphish.
Extract the BSP files into the maps folder

so we cant play it on steam?
No, it means we are officially using a different platform other than Half-Life 2.
Its tough. On one hand this idea should work in source, on the other there is no way this could work with source. If source servers have to be restarted every 35 minutes because of a memory leak, how can the simulation in the least appear continuous?
There is a way to map objects positions in a database and update those positions once a second. We can also spawn a player where he was when he disconnected from the server. We can also dynamicly change objects properties, allowing for the transfer of objects into other objects. For instance, you pickup a bottle from the ground and take it to a "machine" to change it into a money object. All this is possible, however the limitations of the source engine prohibit any realization of the environment to support the premise.
This could only work on a very small scale. 10-20 players, not the 64 players we would like. And even 64 is far to limiting. We need the capability to allow thousands of people to connect at once. And then you need the space to hostt them all. This can only be realized by reducing the scale, however that puts restraints on the level of detail of the buildings, forcing us to not be able to enter the buildings and close them off as desired.
So that means ur offically dead right?
we have focused developement on a different engine platform.
1337 d00d work on it again.
Its been many moons since any real activity has shown itself. Worry not my good people, summer will be over soon and development will pick up again like last winter.
Alienware is building me a super computer so I can compile the main map with great ease. More people have been showing up offering help with our development. Ktrain is well into the next version of the main code. And hopefully all of you are still building your lots for inclusion.
Our server has been down for quite some time now, however I am aware of this now and will get it back up. I will be setting a date sometime after Labor Day for us to meet on the server for testing, a general meeting to get to know your peers, and to discuss development plans.
Percent Complete has been changed to 10%
We might come across a solution to speed the proccess, but for now there are a lot of required steps to getting your building into the map.
i the whole process of uploading your house goin to bo automated?
