GES Unoffical Beta 1.1 Patch Version F Linux Serve
Dec 05, 2007 Full Version 0 commentsThe Long awaited GES Beta Patch for Linux servers. Version F (need the full Golden Eye Source Beta 1 to play)
GoldenEYE: Source is a modification of Half-Life 2, with only one goal in mind; to bring the memories and experiences from the original GoldenEye64 back to life using Source Technology. We want you to look at this mod and remember the first best multiplayer first-person shooter ever made. We are doing our best to bring in the opinions of the community to create a game that everyone is going to enjoy. But, we are not here to recreate the game exactly how it was in GE64, a lot of things have changed since they first designed that game, mainly in technology and gamers experiences. We are here to take the game even further but at the same time provide a lot of those fun elements that hardcore GE64 fans will enjoy. We've got experienced team members all across the board, from professional level, to amateurs looking to make it into the business working hard to make this dream a reality.
Some of the key objects we have to focus on are. Keeping the original feel for the game that we all know and love. Adding new and fun game play features, along with new maps and weapons that will keep the game feeling new. We can do this by, getting together with all of our development team, and asking ourselves "What are the things we always wanted to see and do?". This question has come up alot, and we think we got some really interesting ideas, that we look forward to see come together.
Despite the success of the mod it is with a heavy heart that we say good bye to Nickster our goldeneye source mod leader. He passed away on May 24, 2006, at his home at the age of 27. We as a mod team hereby dedicate this mod fully to Nickster. Tragically his life ended too soon and we as a team wish his family and relatives the best of luck through this difficult time. He would want us to continue on no matter what the costs and we sincerely hope he is in a better place. This mod is for you Nickster from the GoldenEYE: Source team.

It has been a while since our last official news release, and it's time to let you guys know what has been going on with the mod. Let's get the big news out of the way. After much discussion and deliberation, we have decided to skip the beta 1.5 release and go straight to Beta 3. Not only is 3 a bigger number than 1.5, Beta 3 signifies the switch to the orange box SDK, and a complete recode of the mod from scratch. Now before the “oh noez, 3 more years until release” start, we are approaching the development of Beta 3 a bit differently.
Frankly, we are sick of buggy releases just as much as we are of not releasing at all. The solution we decided on was to release smaller chunks of polished material much more frequently. While we aren’t going to announce any concrete schedule, our goal is a release every few months. Not only are we starting the coding from scratch and carefully building up a stable codebase, but in the meantime the artists are recompiling every single prop, weapon, character, and weapon in the mod and revamping the work that we aren’t happy with. Special attention will be paid to weapon balancing and tweaking to get them feeling more like their GE64 equivalents. In addition, the weapon animations are going to be significantly improved. The first release is going to take a little longer than successive patches, as we need to build up that code base with enough features to be fun to play, and enough content to make it worth playing. After that we will release patches every few months with new features and content.
We don’t want to wait until we match the content currently in beta 1.1, and we don’t think you do either. So we’re going to release as soon as we can, and successively release content in patches until we meet and exceed what is currently in 1.1.
Not only will you be able to look forward to a stable platform and new and revamped content, but you won't have to buy the orange box to play it. Valve has released the Orange Box SDK Base as a completely free download, and it has already been integrated into the Beta 3 code. That means you don’t have to own the orange box, only a sdk base game just like it has always been. Just download the Orange Box SDK Base, and you’ll be ready to go. Click Install to launch the installer from your browser, and after the 10mb download, you'll be all set.
A solid codebase is well under way, spearheaded by KillerMonkey and Anthony. Many of you have already read Anthony's programming blog and know the kind of crap he is dealing with. Now you know what it is for. Dozens of props have already been recompiled and revamped, and the character and weapon departments are starting to gear up. The Facility map is the first map to be recompiled, and beta testers have been going through it with a fine tooth comb over the past week. I'm a bit amazed how they can find the tiniest little glitches that most of us would never even see during a normal game. In addition, the biggest visual changes have been to the Runway map, which you'll see below. SharpSh00tah is almost done tweaking this map, and he is also starting on the initial layout for the Streets map. We've also got Temple, Silo, Caves, and Egyptian in active development and in various stages of completion. On the music front, Audix is kicking ass on some new tracks, and we're also working on a few sound effects for the maps.
As you might have guessed from the title of this update, we are also switching to monthly updates to better match our development schedule, supported by the developer blogs for extra info in between.

i think this mod has died its been 5 months now and no word please prove me wrong
Wow VERY nice! My brother is damn crazy about Goldeneye but was disappointed to see there was no single player in this mod, after checking back on it after a while, there's a SP coming! Take as long as you need to and make sure the mod is at it's full potential! Hopefully more people play the mod, currently few people play it due to the many hackers that play it but hopefully those hacking jackasses get banned for good!
Frankly I believe that it would do us an injustice if this team were to overlook a part of Goldeneye 64 that I, like other kids my age at the time, Was more than excited to play. Going back to play it, I felt a part of me twinge at the thought they would simply step over the single player mode. Alot of people across the boards seem to agree. Really I think We should let ourselves be heard.. Bring that good old fashion shooting back. For an older game the combat mechanics were actually pretty cool, despite being wonky at times but really that single player would be great to see once more
Sorry, you are simply not in a position to make demands. And there is no injustice here. The developers, you know, the ones doing all the work, can do whatever the damn they please, with their mod. Deal with it, and in the future, try to approach them in a polite way about what you'd like, instead of insulting their efforts with demands for more, more, MORE! It's rude.
GordonFreeman_19 and Clonest why don't u look at the website Goldeneyesource.com or the Wiki.goldeneyesource.com for more info before asking things also u could have read the description and it says its a mutiplayer mod not a sp mod
i and am sure everyone would want a sp and coop but takes ages to get a sp/coop mod done
muti first then maybe sp is what ive read
I just would like to make a suggestion PLEASE MAKE A SINGLEPLAYER FOR THIS RE-CREATING THE 64 VERSION PLEASE!
The Only Thing you've brought back is the goofy ol deathmacth c'mon BRINGBACK THE SINGLE PLAYER STORYLINE BACK TOO WITH Co-op features!!
