There Goes the Neighborhood!
Ghetto Blaster is a multiplayer mod for Half-Life 2 that is half first-person shooter and half racing.
Team one scores by racing their cars as many laps around the city blocks as possible. Team two must shoot the cars (which have hit points) to pieces. After all cars are wrecked, the teams switch. The levels, characters, weapons, and soundtrack all have an inner-city theme (hence the title).
For the first Beta release, GB will be strictly drivers versus shooters. Later releases will include very clever takes on Capture the Flag, Attack / Defend, VIP, and so on. Look for Bots (i.e. police and ghetto zombies) to play an interesting role in the future, too.
Think Carmageddon meets Smash TV.
Driving, drifting, and shooting-- together at last.

No one is elite in the Ghetto.
Esteemed Colleagues -
A fellow modder recently requested a project status update.
Be advised that, although development is on hiatus, I still possess the complete project plan, specifications sheet, and all files created to date.
Ghetto Blaster receives compliments on its originality and if you look around the modDB website you'll find that we're still a unique game. For this reason, I maintain readiness to resume development on short notice.
I have photo references, map schematics, menu text and layouts, weapon models, vehicle models, pre-fab roadblocks, and so on. What I don't have is one or two talented individuals to dedicate their time and effort for nine months or so.
As of late, I've thought about simplifying the project. Specifically, I'm considering a two-dimensional top-down version like Flash TD Elements. Then, following the success of the 2D "proof of concept," we would release a 3D first-person version. This is not an official announcement. It's just a consideration on my part.
Mods don't die. They're abandoned. But I'm still at my post.
If you have experience or if you're working on a mod and you (or your teammate) are looking for something different, please contact me.
I've been working on Ghetto Blaster since Autumn 2002, so I'm not afraid of being labeled a "dead mod" or "the Duke Nukem of...
Hate to admit it, but yes Ghetto Blaster is stuck without a Coder. Our first guy was a bit half-assed. Our second guy couldn't speak English. The...

Thank you for asking. I appreciate your inquiry.
I need the community to understand a few items:
First, this mod is only as dead as Duke Nukem Forever is.
And secondly, although development is on hiatus, I still possess the complete project plan, specifications sheet, and all files created to date.
