Territory is a modern urban-themed modification of Hl2 that takes place in eastern Asia. Players will buy and sell fully custimizable weapons on the black market for financial gain. A unique rpg style leveling system allows players to increase aim, damage, defense, etc. To win, players must destroy the opponents buildings by means of assualt rifles, explosives, and melee weapons. The mod will have 3 teams, but only two teams will fight each other during the game. The teams consist of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean gang members(this is based on the events in the single player portion)each with their unique weapons and classes. Each race will have three classes, melee, balanced, and long range. What will set us apart from our competition, is our newly developed features, which include the Three point Merchant system, Modular weapons, and the NPC controled, thirdparty force.

Three point Merchant System

Unlike in Cs where the players spawn and have the ability to choose any weapon in the game, Territory will have "merchants" that sell different weapons determined by their location and difficulty to find. There will be three distinct groups of merchants in Territory, hence the name "three point merchant system".

Store group: these merchants, or stores, are near your spawn and visable. They are limited to selling cheap weapons. The shop, and the repair man fall into this catagory. Each team will have one of each.

Thief: These are hidden merchants that are stationary. They are limited to selling cheap and medium grade weapons, attachments, and discardable items. Each team will have one of these.

Wandering merchant: The one and only wandering merchant is continually moving. he will sell expensive weapons, modular weapons, and equip items. He can be killed but he will most likely kill you if you try.

All these merchants and shops can be destroyed or killed.

Modular weapons

Certain weapons in Territory will be modular. These 'modular" weapons will be made up of parts. Players will have the freedom to buy and choose certain parts and mix them together to get different results. Players will experiment different combinations and come up with their favorites. This process eliminates the unbalanced buy system that CS made popular. Teams will no longer have the advantage if they have the most money, they will be forced to think and stragetize about the different combinations.

Third party Npc force

In the multiplayer aspect of Territory, two groups of players will fight to achieve dominance. These two forces are not alone however, a third group, the government, will play a role in the outcome of the game as well. Around the city dwells groups of officials(think police) that stop any fighting as well as shoot members of gangs at first sight. Players will be faced with the challenge of fighting the opposing force while fighting/avoiding the officials.

Pyropowered, the leader, had a hard drive failure and lost everything. Unfortunately, the rest of the team had become inactive so he couldnt get the work back again.

Territory is mainly an FPS with rpg elements(leveling, skills, custimizable weapons) with a hint of RTS( merchant system, target buildings). The ability to sell weapons on the black market( to thieves, other players, merchants) is just a way to recycle weaker weapons for money to buy stronger ones.

So basicly it's a RTS/FPS hybrid where the resources are the weapons?

This sounds like a great concept. I'd suggest talent-scouting the NS mapping community for mappers with RTS/FPS experience, as you'll need to position your 'resource locations' for maximum conflict to keep the pace at full-throttle.

This a great idea. I love the conventional shop and merchants idea, because its so different to anything else that (i know of). I hope you can finish this. sounds like a hard task, i wish i could help!
May I ask when you got the idea from?
