StarShip Troopers : Last Defense is a free 3D RTS game using the Glest engine, it is set in the StarShip Troopers Universe and will have many original and creative features.

SST:LD 3 is the latest release, it's gameplay is hugely redone, making the game fast, fun and much more indepth. Many of the human troopers have been retextured, and all structures redone.

Note : Animations are out dated, and can not be improved until i can get hold of a 3DS Max 7 Liscense.

News 5 comments

Hello! It has been a year since the SST:LD glest mod started and to celibrate the anniversary we have released SST:LD 2.1 as a standalone release. This includes multiplayer and a standalone release for Mac machines and a base release for Linux users and Glest players who dont want to have 2 copies of Glest. We also have a review and a few gaming tips.

SST:LD 2.1 - Windows - Mac - Base Files

Special thanks to Titus Tscharntke who made the base files and to jak for the mac port. The mac port is only version 2 so it does not include multiplayer. Read the details for the mac port as you will need to install a framwork. I hope you enjoy the new release!

Is this still being worked on? If so, I suggest to add better animation. Maybe better quality too.

Yeah, new screenshots!
Will there be something like tree/stones/alien stuff in the final version?
I think the maps are looking a little bit empty.

not bad, myles. I finally played a round and its a cool game. The only problem is that its kinda remnant of other strategy games, where you just have to produce more units than your opponent and throw them at him as soon as possible. If the maps were bigger, the action would be, too.
For the time it took you to produce this beta and seeing how well it plays ( I had no trouble with the speed or starting the game), this is a pretty nice development. It would be cool if you got a final version with three or four maps together, but you're probably planning on a different story already.

Good job, man!

this game is based on the glest engine.
to speed up gameplay press the +key ingame to speed it up or the - key to slow it down, also the turrets move because of a lazy graphical eroor because they wouldnt rotate.

Here are my suggestions:
1) Muzzle flashes when the troopers fire. Seriously... This is NECESSARY!
2) When units attack an enemy, they should not be given a movement order to that position!!! Please fix that immediately! Even the turrets begin to move slowly toward the enemy! How do turrets move?!
3) The game is slow as hell! It runs fine, but the gameplay itself is boring because it's so slow. Buildings build slow, units train slow, units walk slow, units shoot slow, etc.
4) I can barely tell the difference between workers and troopers.
5) And of course, add more units and more map detail....
I congratulate the development team for making it this far. Just polish this up, keep making improvements, and it could be a winner!
