Nov 07, 2008 Full Version 0 commentsTFS v2.5.3 BETA (11/7/08). If you are using a Macintosh computer, download the TFSv2.5.m version. Changes from v2.5.2 are listed below.
Tactical Fleet Simulator (v2.5) Mod Description:
Tactical Fleet Simulator (TFS) is a complex, total overhaul of Homeworld2 with the objective of transforming the game into a tactics-oriented combat simulator. The large selection of units and the high attrition rates combatants suffer greatly enhances the tactical level of gameplay while still retaining real-time strategy elements. Recurring themes are quasi-modern air and naval doctrines modified for three-dimensional movement, complete with a proper unit classification scheme. Grand strategy plays a significant role, with the emphasize on battlefield adaptability, simulated by the large amount of available assets with similar albeit different roles which requires one to be familiarized with specific acronyms and unit types to maintain flexibility. All of this simulates a more immersing, realistic, adrenaline-soaked game experience that the stock version of Homeworld2 failed to deliver. TFS provides Homeworld2 with a relatively balanced, stable and much desired militaristic look and feel.
TFS Features:
The provision of new, more complex strategies and tactics.
Split-second decisions of what units to build and when to deploy.
Exhausting battles add to the fatigue of simulated combat.
New ships, weapon systems, abilities and attack behaviors.
More realistic weapons, unit mobility and far more realistic three-dimensional movement.
A vast and complex unit selection, each with differing or a slight variance in their role.
New game modes and game options prolong the entertainment factor.
More realistic weapon damage relative to ship armor/health.
Note that TFS was designed for use on small and medium sized maps with the Low, Moderate and Default unit cap settings.

Tactical Fleet Simulator v2.5.3 Beta
The TFSv2.5.3 public beta has been released, a comprehensive list of the changes from TFSv2.5.2 is available on the download page. This work-in-progress development is intended to be the first step of streamlining the traditional units and game balance, and might result in the removal of some units.
In the near future, I will allow the fanbase to decide what proposed changes they want implemented through polling via forums. The benefits are twofold; first off, it will allow me to hear and respond to more diverse opinions on how the game should be balanced, and secondly, it helps me decide on what minor, ship and research-level changes I should implement based on my proposals.
Future Prospects
Improved, adaptable artificial-intelligence for the CPU players.
New main menu and background artwork.
Revamping some old units or replacing them with brand-new ship models.
The addition of more technical and game-related material to the TFS-Database.
Cleaning up the file structure.

What mode allows you to have a high unit cap? Most of them seem to have only 48 as the max unit cap.
