Deus Ex: Reborn is a Unreal Tournament 2004 modification aimed at giving the classic Deus Ex technological tune-up. The goal is to utilize the capabilities of UE2 to provide the player with a higher resolution Deus Ex experience while keeping the gameplay intact. Hopefully this will result in a visually and physically more immersive game that DX fans can enjoy.

*Alpha has been removed. A new version is in the works.*
I have packaged the mod so that you may try it out, it's nothing spectacular. I honestly thought I would be farther along since 2 weeks ago, but even though an assload of code was written, there was very little visible effect. In any case, hopefully this will be at least proof that work is being done :)
For the mod to work you must copy the DX textures to the mod's textures folder.
"e" is your frob key, "i" loads the inventory screen.
Also if you would like to try out another map type "open decotest" in the console without the quotes.

Thanks to blueneptune's work on developing a better shadow system for UT2004, DX fans can now enjoy a much more immersive look and feel. The shadows...

If someone wants to help us to finish this project, PM me.
I already have all maps converted into UT2004 format (with lighting, texturing, and all objects and pickups), some sort of working HUD, few weapons, working object highlight (exactly as in original DX) and frob, multitools, lockpicks and partially keyring. I have fully working DeusExMover, and i ported CaroneElevator to work with UT2004 (movers in UT2004 can have up to 24 keyframes!).
Here is my youtube channel, where you're can see what is already done.

Are you continuing where this mod left off ?
We started from scratch in april. I had no this mod in this period.
I remember back in college when I first saw this being posted. Was very excited since I was a fan of UT2k4. Revision is pretty nice, but I think the HDTP models are a little out dated and could use some work. :I
Dead?
Yes.
If someone publish the source with what has been done, maybe it can help.
Sadly.
So...how long does a zombie mod remain here on moddb? This sucker is 5 years old and moribund. Stalled. Comatose. I hesitate to bookmark it because of this.
Too bad, a modern (more or less) do-over of this game would be welcome...unless the original developets intend something similar on their own to extend from DEHR.
