Steel Halo is the rumoured sport played by the Huristar, the legendary Holy Guard of the Emperor. Named in honour of Emperor Zaquen, known to citizens of the Empire as the Steel Halo, the brutal contact sport has gradually filtered through to the outer rim colonies, spread by disgraced Huristar trying to relive their former glory.
Competitors form teams and use a variety of Gravity Rifles to vie for possession of the crown, which must be shot through a goal to score. There are no rules, no penalties, no umpires - highest score wins.

• Play with 7 Gravity Rifles, each with unique capabilities and teamplay interdependencies
• Compete in a unique collection of arenas spread across the 1000 worlds of the Empire, each a strategic challenge designed to test competitors and teams alike.
• Select from a strategic array of start positions on the playfield, from Blitz, Rush, Tandem or Face-off, and dominate your opposition.
• Utilise score multiplier targets, deflection surfaces, and skill shot opportunities to increase the value of a goal – and use special teamplay combinations to boost goal scores even higher.
• Intuitive HUD elements assist with passing between teammates, and navigation of the arenas.
• Revised KARMA collision system sees players being ragdolled if they run into walls, land too fast after using a jump pad, or even into each other.
• Experience a new health and adrenaline systems designed to capture the brutality of non-lethal combat.

Beta 0.9.1 features 3 maps. With a total of 14 maps planned for v1.0, as well as a horde of new and revised features to be implemented as part of our release schedule for the next 12 months, Steel Halo has begun its long but deliberate march towards becoming the Massively Multiplayer Online Sports Game to play - so come and join the Commons League today!

Just going through the moddb steel halo downloads now, might be an idea to post a news item here at moddb announcing the release.
Steel Halo is now finally available to play! We've got one or two dependancy issues to solve, so proper download links will be available later tonight, however the test server is set up and ready to go, and is set up to stream you everything you will need to play. Start UT2004, and add this IP address to your favorites:

Log in, have a go, and see what you think! There's quite a bit it will need to download initially, so if you're worried about it, wait until the downloadable package is made available. Enjoy!
