Rock 24 takes place on an abandoned Cliffside prison.
The prison is situated on the side of a sheer cliff face meaning the only real way in and out is by air. The combine have moved in to the facility and are re-using it as a place to hold rebel leaders and other important Rebels.
Gordon is required to infiltrate, free the Rebel leader and hopefully escape from the facility alive. Unfortunately the prison is rapidly deteriorating around him and there isn't much time.
Rock24 was in production for 9 months as a spare time personal project by two guys who work in the games industry. This is their first mod and attempt at level design.

Depresses me how Valve busted so many amazing mods for nothing.
Rating: 4/5 A fun mod with some small issues.
everything in the cell that i wake up in keeps vanishing and reappearing whenever i move or look in certain areas, very annoying, how to fix?
"Rock 24" started out as mod that showed some promise and potential.....however, the gameplay ended very abruptly for me not long into this mod.
You start out on a ship at sea that eventually is fired on by a 'gunship' (helicopter) -which I and other crewmates managed to destroy with rpgs. However, immediately afterwards another 'gunship' appears....and it manages to destroy the ship that you are on....and you are stranded in the ocean, and as a result begin to sink.
After this 'cut-scene,' you awaken in some kind of a high-tech combine prison facility -replete with lasers and com-controls, etc. 'Off the bat' from this point onwards....I encountered a handful or more of 'script-errors': These consisted primarily of doors that wouldn't open and there was no solution to open them; hence, I was forced to use 'no-clip' cheats at least a handful of times. Sometime not too much later in the mod (about 20+ minutes of gameplay or so) -- I end up freeing a fellow prisoner who was clad in orange felon jumpsuit. Very soon afterwards, he directed me to man a 'turret-gun' and he himself also manned another 'turret-gun' right next to me...and then in-game music began to play indicating that we were in for a battle. At this point combine guards began very, very slowly entering the room that our turret guns are pointing at and we begin eliminating them. However, it seemed very, very odd and unnatural at 'HOW SLOW' the combine guards began entering the room and HOW FEW at a time.....my hunches were that this was 'fishy' and likely wasn't SUPPOSED to happen this way. My hunches proved right:
Even after the last combine bulls stopped entering the room.....my friend (the self-same who was donning an orange felony prison jumpsuit) still manned his 'turret-gun' and he refused to leave it -- as though all the combine guards that were SUPPOSED to enter the room FAILED to....and some REMAINED stuck off-screen somewhere.
At this point, I was compelled traverse every part of the map that I had already explored over and over again (which I did at least 4 times) looking for any hidden switches or levers that I may have missed the first time around -- and hitting the 'use' button on every com-control and everything else. Nothing happened; my friend still refused to move from his turret-gun, even though the action had LONG since ceased.
Finally, I resorted to using a 'no-clip' cheat to go to every part of the map that existed -- looking for any portion of the map that I hadn't yet explored - all of this was to no avail.
As a result, my progress in this mod came to an abrupt end -- due to this last and by far the most egregious 'script error' of all.
If other players of this mod haven't come across this same script error at the junction where I did, I would like to know how and why this is. Yes, I did have the latest patch installed.
I rate "Rock 24" a 4/10.

Never expected an user to review old HL mods.
Full gameplay i really enjoy this
Hey all,
I just finished Rock 24. Overall a very nice effort. Except for the intro level jail meeting (the jail bars would disappear and reappear) this was a very polished looking mod. Story line was good.
I admit that I was getting killed quite a bit on Hard setting. Yet on Medium it was too easy. Oh well.
A good mod.
My "Gaming Monster" LOL:
Dell Optiplex 780 Mini Tower
3-Gig Intel Core 2 Duo
8-Gig RAM
NVIDIA GeForce GT 730 2-Gig
Dual Boot:
Windows 7 Pro x64 on Toshiba P300 500-Gig HDD
Linux Mint 18 Mate on Western Digital Caviar 160-Gig HDD
In the second map, many objects disappear after a short time, or when i look in certain directions. How can i fix this? It is pretty annoying and i really want to play the mod. :(
FIX CRASHES!
The mod is basically 10 years old at this point, Valve changed some code and it broke. We've both moved on to other things now and going back re-setting everything up and re-learn a bunch of stuff to fix the issues would be too large an undertaking right now unfortunately. :( Sorry! I know some people have created fixes/workarounds so have a browse about as you may find something that works and lets you play.
