The plot


 

The story that is being told in our mod is about an ancient artifact called "The Factory". It was built long time ago on a faraway planet and since that time it has served as a place, where data from all the Universe was being collected: history, traditions, technology of different worlds. There are even some thoughts that the Factory is able to change the past and the present.

The Factory is controlled by an ancient civilization, that is just like the humanity. But this society is not similar to ours. Its home world is an ordinary planet like the Earth, but much more industrialized. The technology is similar to dieselpunk society, with a combustion engine as a center of machinery, with primitive nuclear power and vacuum tube computers, wide spread of dirigibles and propeller-driven aviation, combination of some hi-tech technology (like death rays) and old firearms. In general this world is much like expanded 30s of 20th century in humans’ history.

This civilization, despite not being the founder of the Factory, has a duty to maintain and protect it. It is an ancient responsibility provided by the government. Those who are chosen to serve the Factory for term of life are called "Enhancers". They are highly qualified soldiers who have a responsibility to observe and protect the Factory's work of data gathering, its conveyors and equipment. Why and whom is the data being collected for? What mysterious conveyors work there? This is what you have to learn on your own.

In our mod you will still play as Gordon Freeman, who suddenly appeared in the wrong place, but in the right time. Having survived imprisonment, Gordon will become a witness of the revolt of Recreants, who are traitors, rising against old order. They’re headed by the Factory's Main Computer for unknown reasons…

 

Mod’s design


 

As it has been already mentioned, the mod is being created in a relativelyyoungstyle of dieselpunk. The huge Factory is divided into different departments, specialized in a variety of problems, such as weaponry, history, space or means of transport. In the innumerous archives you’ll find information about each existing world. You’ll even have a chance to become a witness of some events, that took place in a faraway past. For example, Freeman will see the 7-hour War just as a usual citizen…

 

The enemies


 

Enhancers – the Factory’s old faithful guards, constantly living on its territory; people who have been chosen for an endless serving. Their another duty is to work at the Observation & Containment Center and to protect it - the place, where the experiments are being controlled and researched. Enhancers act as a united brotherhood with a strictly determined hierarchy, they are idealists, who serve the Factory and hate the betrayers – Recreants.

Recreants – those who rejected the Factory, who struggle against the dictatorship setted up by the government. They have surprisingly appeared and created their own forces at the Factory itself. Even some Enhancers took their side. The Recreants’ leader – captain Carmack (the stress is on the 2nd syllable) – is headed by the Main Computer.

Monsters from the world of Half-Life - actually, the part of the Experiment, they had suddenly got to the Factory as a result of a strange resonance between the Combine’s teleports and the Factory’s penetration preventing barriers. The monsters are mostly represented by the Xen's fauna.

Authomatical defence systems - are also among your enemies, but it's not easy to destroy them. Weapons' power is not enough - you'll have to use your head...

Factory's personnel - a small quota of slaves, created with the Factory's means. Aren’t a serious danger.

The Main Computer - an eccentric electron-tube genius. You shouldn’t forget, that he has access to all the Factory's systems and gives orders to Recreants by their captain.

 

The gameplay


 

The mod's gameplay is an action with different puzzles - in various proportions, depending on a concrete location. Transport is also represented in our mod - we bet you won't forget the adrenal race with a computer rival... You can expect a great number of sound dialogues and script-scenes.

 

Mod’s specifics


 

- Huge Factory’s areas with unique departments, which differ both in design and gameplay.

- A great number of sound dialogues and script-scenes; cut-scenes.

- It's common knowledge that Freeman doesn't say a word in the original Half-Life. But in our mod he is not "dumb" anymore - Gordon will speak to other characters and comment everything around him.

- A specific humour

- New weapons’ types and characteristics

- New models and skins

- Usual music tracks are combined with an interactive soundtrack system, which depends on a concrete type of gameplay and the player’s acting

- Unique sounds; most of the sounds are created specially for our mod

Sorry for not answering your question.
Yes, the mod's still in development. Unfortunately our English website has been deleted by the hoster... Anyway, we're still alive and we're going to finish the first chapter of our mod by this winter. We have some troubles with modelling, our modeller was kicked from the university ( So it has slowed us down a bit. But there's nothing to worry about.

Speaking about the date of release... Well, we haven't determined the terms yet. The only thing I can say is that the mod won't have been finished by the end of the year. We have a lot to do... But I suppose, that we've already done about 15-20 %. Such a modification is not to be done in a hurry. 8)
